Before you can take the Oral and Practical Examination with a Designated Mechanic Examiner, you must pass a computer knowledge test based on the rating that you are seeking. For instance, if you are seeking your Airframe rating only, then you must take the General and Airframe test. If you are seeking your Powerplant rating then you will need to take the General and Powerplant tests. If you are seeking your A&P rating, then you must take all three (General, Airframe, and Powerplant).
How is it that I have all of the questions to the tests? The FAA releases the questions and the options of answers under the freedom of information act. In no way will you find the correct answers here, but at least you will know what you are responsible for knowing when it comes time for you to take your computer tests. There are many good test guides available on the market that will contain the questions and explanations for the most probably correct answer for each question.
Normally, the test pool is modified once a year (typically in June) to rotate questions and get rid of those that may be incorrect. The test pool listed below is the latest and most updated version available (June 2003).
